Inviting Guidance

A Foundation Established

Having taken steps to contemplate a principle that is good and spiritual -- a principle that we experience and that we participate in when we grow in spiritual character and other good things; a principle that we may observe in others who bring forth some measure of good fruit -- we are called to be more diligent in walking a path that is consistent with such contemplation of a Great Holy Invisible Spirit.

Having made a beginning (or better yet, having initiated liberation), a movement has begun towards commitment to such a path. Perhaps we have begun a regular prayer life.

Intimacy of a Path

Ours is a path which we will discover more details and insight about as we walk it in our own personal way, uniquely, day by day. No one else's path will substitute for our own spiritual walk, no matter how good their advice may be, no matter how well we learn from their mistakes, no matter the appearances. If we aren't walking our path, what kind of path is it? Whatever help we receive neither replaces nor erases our own footsteps.

We might spiritually wish to have wisdom about specifics of our path. We can invite such guidance.

Not Presumption, but Grace!

But how much do we really think we should try to control the appearance, the manifestation, the quality of such participation, considering our own ignorance? Yes in ignorance, such would be the temptation. And in reality, it may be the inevitability. Let us be aware of such realities.

With Grace we may overcome some of that ignorance, so there may be no need to worry overmuch about it. But there are traps when we seek guidance.

A vision may be a delusion. An intuition may be misunderstood or it may simply be wrong. An obvious interpretation may be off-base.

With humility, we can ask and be receptive, in silence, praying for enough Grace to be illuminated by Wisdom that is Spiritually Desired-For. May we Seek and Find.
